City Gardens Shoring

Project Scope

BAT Construction was contracted by Kelson Group Developments to deliver specialized shoring services for the City Gardens residential development in Kamloops, BC. The scope of work included the supply and installation of approximately 12,688 linear metres of R32N anchor bars, grouted with Microsil, and 266 linear metres of 114mm temporary cased micropiles. In addition, BAT applied both 4-inch and 8-inch structural shotcrete—reinforced with welded wire mesh (WWM)—across nearly 4,700 square metres of shoring wall to support excavation operations.

The shoring system was installed using wet-mix shotcrete methods and designed to meet the project’s geotechnical performance requirements. BAT proactively addressed material procurement challenges by upgrading specified anchors to higher-capacity R32N bars, ensuring compliance with structural criteria. The project also demanded tight coordination with the developer to align with safety documentation, survey control points, and complex site logistics and utility interfaces. Delivered as a continuous operation with a contract value exceeding $2.37 million, the City Gardens Shoring project highlights BAT Construction’s capabilities in urban excavation support systems and technically demanding geotechnical installations.
